Pet Odor Control
Pet urine can cause damage to your property,
floors and fabrics not to mention an unhealthy indoor environment. The
longer urine stays without treatment it becomes a breeding ground for
bacteria. When urine is deposited on a fabric it begins to oxidize and
create some fabric discoloration. If left for days or weeks, depending
on the fabric, it can change the dye structure, causing
permanent staining.
Urine odor becomes more prominent when the humidity level rises. After
the urine dries salts are left behind drawing and absorbing moisture.
When this moisture evaporates it puts off an odorous gas. In order to
eliminate the urine odor the salts and crystal must be removed; not just
on the surface of the fabric but in the underlying pad and sub surface
areas as well. By just cleaning the area topically it will not remove
the odor in fact it will likely make the odor more noticeable being that
salts will absorb more moisture. When you smell urine odor the chances
are that you smell the gasses created from the bacteria feeding on the
urine.
We use high intensity ultra violet lighting to locate the spot and also
electronic urine probe meters. Once we locate the problem area we then
can determine the best method for attacking the source.
There are different methods we can use to treat the urine below the
surface. Which one is needed varies from case to case, and will be
determined upon inspection. The technician can explain to you in great
detail every step necessary.
Be cautious of store bought products with oxygen bleaches and high pH
levels. These products can leave the carpet with an incorrect pH level
and a residue, causing the carpet to attract dirt and possible permanent discoloration.
